Daiki Tanaka: Dedicated Craftsmanship in Kyoto's Tranquil Countryside

Beauty of Traditional Handcraft

Everyday Ceramics that Shine

In his quiet workshop in the Keihoku district of Kyoto, Daiki Tanaka has been crafting pottery with dedication for over 10 years.

Surrounded by the soothing sounds of nature, his hands skillfully shape the clay, bringing forms to life.

(A well-organized workshop, just the right size for focused work)

Having studied ceramics at Seika University under the guidance of Mori Murata, his skills shine through in the beautiful porcelain and indigo-colored wares he creates using techniques such as slip casting and wheel throwing.

In his workshop, every step, from selecting the clay to firing, is carried out with care, infusing each piece with his spirit.

(Confidently working through familiar tasks, his dedication to craftsmanship is evident)

Tanaka’s porcelain pieces are particularly notable for their simple design and texture, offering warmth with every touch.

The more they are used, the more their beauty is revealed, blending seamlessly into daily life and enriching the hearts of those who use them.

His work stems from a pursuit of functional beauty, aiming to imbue his pottery with a sense of beauty that can only be fully appreciated when used in everyday life.

(Collaborative works with fellow ceramics artist Kei Tanabe, who was a classmate in university, are among his popular pieces)

Tanaka’s meticulous approach to his work is a reflection of his continuous pursuit of greater skill and mastery in the future.

As you gaze at one of his pieces, the scene of its creation comes to mind, and his passion is conveyed through the craftsmanship.

Tanaka’s pottery, with its simple elegance and high quality, brings new value to daily life, filling your heart with each use.
