[Western Cuisine] A Western Table with Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware - Autumn 2024

Hello, everyone reading the blog.

This is Yokoyama, the owner of KOTOPOTTER.

When you think of traditional crafts, you might associate them with a more "Japanese" aesthetic.

While it's true that many Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware pieces are made for traditional Japanese settings, there are also many that work beautifully in Western table settings.

Today, I would like to introduce Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware pieces that are perfect for Western-style dining.

When it comes to Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware pieces with a strong Western aesthetic, the "Purple Floral Pattern" series from Tōraku kiln is a must-have.

With its raised rim and elegant design, this plate shines in any Western dining setting.

The "Fukiyose" pattern, depicting leaves blown by the wind, evokes an autumn scene. While wine glasses and champagne flutes are common, a pottery goblet with a seasonal design adds a unique touch.

What do you think?

While restaurants used to mainly use white tableware, colorful glazed pieces are becoming increasingly popular.

We hope you'll consider incorporating Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware into your Western-style dining settings as well.
